Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical advisory support to the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Center (SSC) Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN). While SSC/SN is based at Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, CA, this position supports the local Government customer(s) located at the development contractor's space vehicle factory in Sunnyvale, CA. SSC/SN acquires Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Weather/Environmental Monitoring space and ground systems to support military and intelligence community users. The successful candidate will provide technical systems engineering solutions in support of ongoing and future SSC/SN acquisition and development projects. This role spans the entire development lifecycle for space systems, including concepts, requirements, design, development, test/validation, and transition-to-operations. The candidate will interface with Government staff, development contractors, Systems Engineering and Integration contractors, and The Aerospace Corporation to provide recommendations to the Government for all program activities.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform system engineering activities based on sound engineering practices

Work with Government customers to establish mission needs on a weekly basis

Provide project management support to Government project leaders

Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the system development lifecycle

Collect and assess Development Contractor performance information and compare against planned performance and contract requirements

Perform technical evaluations of the development contractor proposals including labor reviews, material reviews, and Other Direct Cost (ODC) reviews to determine if compliant with Government's solicitation technical documents and acquisition plans

Qualifications

Qualifications:

with eligibility to hold a DoD TS/SCI security clearance

Experience navigating US Space Force/Air Force acquisition lifecycle

Experience with Space/Air Force missile warning, tracking, characterization, and/or defense

DoD Acquisition and/or demonstrated experience accelerating software project development, integration, and deployment

Experience in Systems Engineering as it relates to Space System programs

Knowledge of requirements generation, concept development, and Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes

Ability to recommend and make decisions on projects and action items to achieve program and/or organizational objectives

Comfortable delivering presentations on programmatic and technical matters to Government customers

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in Government and Contractor teams

Ability to work proactively and independently as a member of a highly effective technical team

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years related experience
