Job Summary:

This position will be one of our senior technical advisors to the director of Epic security and will partner with the management team on steps needed to address technical debt and at least initially will be entrenched in helping to address technical debt that comes from handling security and user account management at the local market level for 8 markets since implementation.

Technical advisement and architecture of Epic platform protection

Looking to solve problems and create solutions in a standardized and centralized manner to create the most efficient tools for our customers, we support over 250 environments and several hundred thousand users. We are focused on reducing risk and increasing efficiency for the Epic platform/KPHC.

We are dedicated to protecting the critical data of the Application Delivery Services (ADS) KP HealthConnect (KPHC) Platform by ensuring compliance with all user access controls, change management activities, and privacy for our members. We do this through our key partnerships with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Access Management Services (AMS), IT Controls and Compliance (ITCC), Technology Risk Office (TRO), Cyber Risk Defense and Privacy Technology Support (PTSC) teams.

Our team oversees the user populations for over 300,000 users (3,000 system administrators/elevated users) across more than 250 servers, covering both production and non-production environments by mapping Epic application settings into role-based access templates. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for serving as a lead expert in configuring complex system builds, testing, validation, and ongoing production support of assigned applications. This position will possess clinical or IT systems knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high quality care using the electronic health record. This position will provide consultation on the in depth and precise investigation and documentation of future- state operational specifications and application functionality by leading the analysis of application capabilities, workflows, data collection, report details, and other clinical and/or technical issues associated with Epic software. This position is also responsible for designing, developing, and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications. Some of the unique challenges this position will face include analyzing clinical and business operations and investigating user preferences; prioritizing & implementing requested system changes & updates; serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff. This position also drives the development and documentation of internal procedures, the preparation of specifications for system enhancements, and the analysis and testing of new release functionality. 3-5

  • Collaborates with technical and project team leaders to resolve complex system problems and application-specific issues, and provides consultation on the design and architecture of technology environments across the enterprise.
  • Escalates unresolved or critical issues, risks or problems to system engineers and management.
  • Plans and performs complex system configuration by performing proactive and predictive analysis of environment configurations, and resolving system and network integration issues.
  • Plans the maintenance, modification, and documentation of applications; recommending system or integration changes based on the cost/benefit of available solutions.
  • Creates complex documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and supports others in ensuring system configurations documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Leads hardware and software changes for multiple IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
  • Recommends and executes complex performance tuning and optimization activities.
  • Evaluates existing technical resources to determine coverage of the necessary skills and knowledge required to meet ongoing business demands.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR Minimum five (5) years scripting or programming experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration.
  • Five (5) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large of-the-shelf applications or software packages.
