Purpose of the role

To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Accountabilities
  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Barclays is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to drive our Asset Servicing technology strategies. In this role, you will lead a team of developers building modern, cloud-based solutions using Java and related technologies. You'll balance technical leadership with people management to deliver innovative solutions that transform our asset servicing capabilities.

To be successful as an Engineering Lead, Asset Servicing, you should have experience with:
  • Overseeing the development of scalable, cloud-native applications for asset servicing operations
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to translate highly detailed requirements into technical solutions
  • Vendor relationships and third-party integrations, ensuring alignment with technical roadmaps and service level agreements.
  • Establishing engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Oversee project delivery timelines and resource allocation
  • Evaluating and implementing new technologies to enhance our asset servicing platform
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and performance requirements
  • Agile principles and practices across the organization
  • Leading and mentoring a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

Some other highly valued skills may include:
  • Direct development experience with Java and related frameworks
  • Experiences with modern software development practices (Microservices, API Development, CI/CD, DevOps, Agile)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and containerization technologies
  • Understanding of financial services, particularly Post Trade Asset Servicing operations
  • People leadership experience supporting engineering teams

Minimum Salary $170,000

Maximum Salary $240,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
