ECS is seeking a Systems Engineer - Senior (CAASM) to work remotely .

Program Description

ECS is seeking talented professionals to join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete 'Data Services' solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

ECS is seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join their team, with a focus on Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management (CAASM) platforms - specifically Armis and Axonius. In this role, you will be a part of an effort to continue streamlining and deploying Cyber solutions within Government environments to further correlate and normalize Cyber data. You will be leading the planning, design, deployment, and integration of CAASM solutions to normalize data collection methods at different Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) Agencies. You'll troubleshoot and analyze complex data challenges for customers using your knowledge of integrations, networking and security systems. Using your knowledge and experience with CAASM tools like Axonius and Armis, you'll help the FCEB Agencies assess security threats through integration of Cyber data.

Primary duties include:
  • Configuring and managing CAASM instances (Axonius and Armis) in non-production and production environments; configuring adaptors to collect asset and user data from cyber tools, sensors, and other sources.
  • Working closely with architects, engineers, and integrators to assess customer requirements and to design and support CAASM instance configurations in compliance with CDM data requirements.
  • Provide advanced technical support for RESTful API integrations, including interpreting OpenAPI specifications, tracing requests using tools like Postman, and effectively handling HTTP methods (GET, POST, etc.), status codes (e.g., 202, 401), request bodies, parameters, and headers.
  • Analyze and interpret complex Cyber datasets to uncover insights, performing exploratory analysis and ensuring data quality, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Securing the solution using TLS, certificates, SSO/PIV authentication, and encryption technologies.
  • Testing data flows, troubleshooting issues, and monitoring the health of the CAASM instances and servers to maximize performance and minimize downtime .
  • Documenting the installation and configuration of production deployments .
  • Serving as a CAASM trusted advisor, providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and best practice
  • recommendations for internal teams and Government agencies.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for Production support.
Salary Range: $109,000 - $162,000

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 6+ years architecting, implementing, integrating, and managing COTSproducts in a regulated production environment(AxoniArmis preferred)
  • 4+ years performing systems administration in Windows, Linux, or VMware environments, including performing basic troubleshooting, installation, configuration, monitoring system performance or availability, and performing security upgrades
  • 3+ years of hands-on programming and debugging (Python, GO or Java), shell scripting, application containerization, data storage and retrieval from a variety of sources (ex. REST APIs)
  • 2+years experiencewith data ingest and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) techniques using COTS Products(AxoniArmis preferred)
  • 2+yearsdeploying, hosting, monitoring, and securing solutions in a cloud environment for Government customers, preferably AWS GovCloud
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills to articulate technical topics and build consensus among stakeholders
  • Experience with APIs and data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and correlate asset data with vulnerability feeds, threat intelligence, and security findings from multiple sources.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving and analytical skills


Desired Skills

  • 2+ years hands-on experience integrating Axonius or Armis.
  • 2+ years automating workflows securely with COTS products via RESTful API's.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (ex. NIST, FIPS, FISMA, etc).
  • Ability to provide support in an IT operations and maintenance role, including ticket work information updates, issue response, and remediation.
  • Experience supporting Federal Civilian Agencies.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile methodologies in a scaled enterprise setting.
  • Experience supporting large Federal programs ($200M+)
