Data Architect (AWS) with Financial Domain Exp in SC
Location: Fort Mill, SC (Onsite Preferred)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly technical AWS Data Architect to lead the cloud strategy and data platform modernisation for our Direct Business Mutual Fund (DB MF) platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong architectural leadership, hands-on data engineering capabilities, and the ability to collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design cloud-native data platforms and solutions on AWS.
- Lead end-to-end migration of legacy data systems and pipelines to AWS.
- Define and own the technical data roadmap aligned to business objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable architectural solutions.
- Govern data quality, security, lineage, and compliance across the ecosystem.
- Provide hands-on support and technical leadership to development teams.
- Maintain clear documentation and drive transparency through regular communication.
- Promote best practices in data modelling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in Data Architecture or related engineering roles.
- Proven expertise with AWS data services, including S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, RDS, etc.
- Strong foundation in data modelling, distributed processing (Spark), and SQL/Python.
- Successful delivery of large-scale cloud migration or modernisation programs.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional and enterprise-level initiatives.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence across business and technology teams.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within Mutual Funds or Financial Services is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines).
- Relevant AWS certifications, such as Solutions Architect or Data Analytics.
