Position: Plunger Lift SME

Location: Houston, TX (3 days a week onsite is must)

Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:

• Knowledge of plunger lift artificial lift systems (ALS) including:
  • Standard plunger lift
  • Gas assisted plunger lift (GAPL)
  • Plunger assisted gas lift (PAGL)
• Understanding critical parameters to determine health of and optimize plunger, PAGL, and GAPL ALS
• Create key diagnostic plots and know critical information to ingest in order to visualize overall operation and health of plunger, PAGL, and GAPL systems
• Understand the different types of plungers and when to deploy which type of plunger
• Identify from SCADA and field data when a plunger should be replaced for a new one or swapped out for a different type
• Determine when a well should be placed on plunger lift:
  • Be able to design a plunger lift, GAPL, and PAGL system based on well characteristics/details and production + pressure information
• Determine when to move away from GAPL or PAGL to a different ALS method on individual wells
• Optimize the operation of a plunger lift, GAPL, or PAGL system based on SCADA data:
  • Be able to slow down or speed up the launches to optimize production
  • Launch at intervals such that lift is optimized while wear and tear on the plunger is minimized
• Make recommendations to extend the life of the plunger during operations
• Determine how frequently to make changes to the plunger, GAPL, PAGL system during operations based on the frequency of the data and how quickly the downhole/reservoir dynamics are changing
• Make recommendations to fill data gaps in SCADA systems and field capture notes to improve plunger, GAPL, PAGL operations
• Provide estimates for plunger run life based upon historical plunger data:

Be able to make updates if operational changes are made that would extend or shorten the plunger life
