Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to join our pharmaceutical client s analytics and reporting team in Carlsbad, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-level data models and reports using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and advanced tools like Tabular Editor and ALM Toolkit. This role requires strong experience in BI solution design, performance optimization, and collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that drive data-informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets that support business objectives.

  • Work with Microsoft Fabric to integrate data pipelines and optimize dataflows for enterprise reporting.

  • Develop and maintain tabular models using Tabular Editor for efficient DAX calculations and model management.

  • Use ALM Toolkit for deployment pipelines, model comparison, and version control across environments (Dev, Test, Prod).

  • Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions.

  • Ensure best practices in data modeling, performance tuning, and governance are followed.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior BI developers and analysts.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance data strategy and reporting maturity across the organization.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Data Analytics, with at least 4+ years focused on Power BI.

  • Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M), and Dataflows.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric for data integration and pipeline management.

  • Proficiency with Tabular Editor for advanced modeling and scripting.

  • Experience with ALM Toolkit for model comparison, deployment, and source control.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, star schema, performance tuning, and large dataset optimization.

  • Exposure to Azure Data Services (Data Lake, Synapse, SQL Database) preferred.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical/life sciences domain data (clinical, research, or commercial) is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
