As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate Sector - Decom Factory (DF), you will leverage your expertise in software, applications, and technical processes to promote infrastructure engineering initiatives. The Decom Factory (DF), in partnership with Infrastructure Platforms (IP), is tasked with executing comprehensive decommissioning of hosting platforms and backend infrastructure. DF integrates both logical and physical activities across Infrastructure Platforms (IP), serving as the central hub for all decommissioning efforts, whether complete or partial. This includes application decommissioning, data center relocations, and the partial decommissioning of team member hosts, operating system instances (OSIs), databases, web servers, and storage. DF collaborates closely with Line of Business clients, IP partner teams, and engineering groups to create standardized, resilient operating environments at all Global Data Centers & Remote Sites. In this role, you will coordinate and manage logical and physical asset decommissions as requested by clients, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards. You will handle client escalations with professionalism, participate in project meetings, and use metrics to document performance. Additionally, you will focus on process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of the server decommissioning function. Collaboration with various teams, including Engineering, Operations, Monitoring, Storage, Networks, Backup, DCO, Application Owners, Line of Business, and Project Managers, is crucial to successfully implement critical decommissioning initiatives.

Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
- Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
- Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
- Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications
- Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
- Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Be accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications
- Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
- Data Center Infrastructure Experience: At least 3 years of experience in delivering data center infrastructure products and services, including server, storage, and networking.
- Project Management: Minimum of 2 years of experience in managing and coordinating projects and technical resources.
- Operating Systems Knowledge: General understanding of multiple operating systems such as Redhat Linux, Microsoft Windows, IBM AIX, Solaris, and VMware ESX, along with monitoring and supporting Wintel WEB-based services.
- Change Management: Over 3 years of working knowledge of Change Management processes, tools and procedures.
- Database Experience: Experience with Oracle, Oracle RAC, and MS SQL.
- Virtualization and Server Platforms: General understanding of VMware Virtual Center, blade-based server platforms, and their design and management tools.
- Data Storage Technologies: Experience with SAN and NAS data storage technologies, including EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, IBM XIV, and NetApp.
- Networking Knowledge: Good understanding of routing/switching concepts, IP assignment, LAN/WAN/VLAN configurations, CISCO/Juniper products, and network inventory management systems.
- Process Engineering: Experience with process engineering, ITIL/Six Sigma approaches, workflow management, and complex provisioning environments.
- Enterprise Technology Delivery: Proven success in delivering enterprise technologies to lines of business in large-scale enterprise environments.
