Description:
- Field Engineer to support Outside Plant (OSP) projects in the New Hampshire area. This role involves working with a variety of OSP projects, including Fiber to the Premises (FTTP), 5G, HiCap (High Capacity), and BAU (Business as Usual) work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OSP engineering and field data collection, with the ability to design, implement, and assess telecom infrastructure projects.
- As an OSP Field Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Surveying and assessing field conditions for ongoing OSP designs and ensuring that the design is aligned with actual conditions.
- Designing and planning OSP infrastructure for both fibre and copper networks, including aerial, underground, and buried systems.
- Overseeing the construction and implementation of fibre optic and copper networks, ensuring that the projects meet all technical specifications and timelines.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the designs meet customer requirements and project goals.
- Managing multiple telecom projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion of all deliverables.
- Performing field visits to inspect and confirm the quality of construction and installation work.
- Maintaining detailed records of field data and reports on progress, changes, and any challenges that arise during project execution.
- Communicating daily progress updates and project status to relevant stakeholders and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field surveys and assessments: Visit job sites, conduct site surveys, and gather data to inform design decisions.
- Design OSP networks: Design fibre optic and copper cable systems (UG, Aerial, Buried), including conduit, manhole, and pole designs.
- Manage multiple projects: Work on various OSP projects, balancing priorities and deadlines.
- Customer interaction: Collaborate with customers to understand project needs, discuss designs, and address concerns.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Analyse field conditions and resolve any issues related to designs, installations, or customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance: Follow all relevant safety and industry standards in fieldwork and design.
- Report writing: Provide detailed reports on field visits, project progress, and project completions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or degree in Engineering preferred.
- Field experience with FTTP, HiCap, 5G, and BAU projects is essential.
- Proficiency in OSP design for fibre and copper networks, including underground (U G), aerial, and buried installations.
- Hands-on experience with manhole, conduit, and pole design.
- Solid understanding of fibre backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2).
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD for design work, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data, field conditions, and design specifications.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with customers, field teams, and management.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel between various project sites in New Hampshire.
- Ability to work well in a team as well as independently, showing flexibility and adaptability when needed.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with Net Cracker software (inactive).
- Understanding of Fiber optic networks and other telecom infrastructure systems.
- Experience with field data collection and surveying for telecom projects.
