Geospatial Projects Manager

Required Experience

  • GIS Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including experience using Esri GIS software.

  • Project Management Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional experience managing geospatial projects and implementations.

Job Summary

This position performs a wide range of GIS assignments. The role focuses on coordinating implementation and ongoing operations of enterprise geospatial services, especially involving Esri GIS server software and desktop applications. The manager serves as a liaison among internal teams, state agencies, vendors, and other subject matter experts, while leading multi-agency and enterprise GIS projects.

Key Responsibilities GIS Implementation & Operations

  • Coordinate the implementation of Esri GIS server software and desktop applications.

  • Oversee day-to-day operational tasks for enterprise geospatial services.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between the DTMB Geospatial Services team and:

    • State agencies

    • Vendors

    • Other subject matter experts

Project Coordination & Leadership

  • Coordinate GIS projects that involve:

    • Multiple agencies

    • Enterprise solutions

    • Continuous upgrades, maintenance, and support of large GIS systems

  • Serve as a team lead, providing guidance for:

    • Esri software deployments

    • Upgrades

    • Data integrations

  • Establish project timelines and identify resource needs.

Requirements & Priorities

  • Gather requirements and priorities from state agency GIS stakeholders.

  • Ensure stakeholder needs are translated into actionable project plans.
