Summary

As an Engineering Project Manager (EPM) supporting the Watch Product Design (PD) organization, you will join a team of PD EPMs that is responsible for technical project management and assisting engineering development with one of our Watch PD teams. The successful candidate will be a fearless organizer, utilizing a solid ME background to drive day-to-day activities with the team to meet the top level program objectives. The PD EPM focuses on system-level mechanical engineering design, managing development planning and validation cycles.

Key Qualifications

Engineering degree or equivalent required; BSME Preferred2+ years prior product development experience in project management or mechanical engineering designDetailed knowledge of product development process and cyclesStrong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processesExperience interfacing with mechanical engineering/design, operations, and vendorsExperience setting up project schedules and work breakdown structuresExcellent communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills. Able to filter and distill relevant information for the right audienceStrong interpersonal skills, oriented toward teamworkSelf motivated and proactive, demonstrating creative and critical thinking capabilitiesUnderstands and able to handle rapid development cycles well; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguityAbility to travel internationally to support buildsAny of the following is also a plus: Experience in consumer electronics Experience as a practicing engineer Experience with high-volume manufacturing

Description

- Enable efficient development by creating and maintaining a streamlined process, capturing parallel designs and clear paths to closure with owners for each action item- Drive upstream component/module builds to fulfill system engineering build demands. Key contributor to system build planning and execution- Collaborate and facilitate communication across multiple engineering teams, operations, industrial design, and our vendor partners to meet aggressive quality, schedule, and cost goals- Understand technical issues & complex design trade-offs. Drive to closure by bringing together key stakeholders; facilitating decision-making discussions to meet overall project objectivesIdentify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution within and between teams, focus on top level objectives and develop best course of action- Create/maintain complex and detailed project schedules for product enclosure and internal mechanical components. Respond quickly to changes and minimize project impact- Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management as top priorities shift- Understand system-level part interactions (mechanical, electrical, RF); manage a plan to provide key system configurations into reliability testing to validate performance- Coordinate cosmetic and functional partial unit builds for key reviews and early testing- Offer multiple levels of status across a wide spectrum of individual contributors to executive management

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300.00 and $241,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
