Job Title: ServiceNow Developer (Vancouver Release)

Job Description:

Our client, a large public sector organization based in New York City, is seeking an experienced ServiceNow Developer for a remote contract role. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ServiceNow development and customization, particularly with the Vancouver release. This role is crucial to enhancing platform functionality, driving implementation, and supporting business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and develop ServiceNow modules (ITSM, SPM, etc.) with minimal supervision.

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, stakeholders, and IT teams to understand requirements and propose scalable solutions.

  • Prepare detailed and well-structured technical documentation for development and configuration.

  • Ensure code quality and adherence to best practices through code reviews, unit testing, and performance testing.

  • Support release planning, deployment, and transition into production environments.

  • Evaluate new ServiceNow releases and advise on upgrade opportunities.

  • Participate in platform enhancements, including scripting, workflows, and UI customizations.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience across Agile and Waterfall environments.

  • Proven expertise in ServiceNow Vancouver release features and upgrades.

  • Deep technical knowledge in ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, SPM, Service Portal, and Employee Center.

  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, Web Services, Glide APIs, Jelly, PowerShell, and Shell scripting.

  • Experience with CMDB, Discovery, Orchestration, Service Mapping, Asset/Event Management, Scoped Apps, and Performance Analytics.

  • Skilled with documentation tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Jira.

  • Integration experience with third-party applications and REST/SOAP APIs.

  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, SSH, T1) and firewall configurations.

  • Familiarity with RDBMS tools, data modeling, and CSDM.

  • Working knowledge of automated testing frameworks and guided tours within ServiceNow.

  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes and foundations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in government, public sector, or municipal IT environments.

  • Familiarity with Application Dependency Mapping tools (ADM, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, Device42).

  • One or more ServiceNow Certifications: CSA, CAD, CIS-ITSM, CIS-ITOM, CTA.

  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification or higher.
