Location: Remote. Preference is for candidates residing in DC, MD, VA, or WV. Will also consider approved states, including DE, NC, PA, FL, NY, NJ, and TX

Summary:
CareFirst is seeking a Mainframe Support Engineer to assist with daily monitoring of IT infrastructure and applications and provide on-call support. This environment is predominantly DB2, JCL, COBOL, and ZOS.
The shift schedule will be 8 hours overnight, 5 times per week, Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Friday.
Shifts will be 6:00 am 2:00 pm OR 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
Responsibilities include;

  • Real-time monitoring for both Mainframe and Distributed systems to proactively detect and prevent service disruption.
  • Responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems through resolution.
  • Create or alter new and existing jobs and job schedules on the mainframe, Windows, and UNIX environments

  • 5+ years of experience as a mainframe support engineer responsible for monitoring/supporting applications in DB2, JCL, Cobol, and ZOS environments
  • Experience creating or altering new and existing jobs and job schedules on the mainframe
  • Prior night shift experience
