Job Details

Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team. This role is based on-site at our client's location in Arlington, VA or Bellevue, WA. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Design, implement and maintain data infrastructure including data modeling, ETL pipelines, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Partner with various teams to build data pipelines from a wide variety of sources using AWS big data technologies (Lake Formation, Glue, S3, MWAA, Lambda, etc.).
  • Build a data dictionary, catalog and governance plan and manage and audit all of the registered data via mechanisms.
  • Work with data consumers to provide and correlate the right data for business intelligence and machine learning use-cases.
  • Develop automated solutions to minimize manual processes with focus on efficiency and scalability.
  • Provide guidance on data stewardship for teams onboarding to the central data systems.

Requirements:  

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Experience engineering, administering and managing multiple relational database flavors (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
  • Understanding of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
  • Experience working directly with customers, resolving database, systems and infrastructure-related issues and also providing systems architecture leadership
  • 3+ years experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Ideal candidate would have one or more of the following certifications:
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Assoc.
  • AWS Certified Developer Assoc.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Assoc.
  • AWS Certified Data Engineer Assoc.
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer Assoc.
  • Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl).
  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a track record of building data solutions from the ground up
  • Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine a must (PL/SQL, T-SQL, redshift SQL, Postgres SQL etc.)
