We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team in a contract-to-hire capacity. In this role, you will contribute to software engineering initiatives of low to moderate complexity, with a focus on identifying process improvement opportunities and delivering high-quality solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply sound judgment, and grow your understanding of engineering best practices, policies, and compliance standards.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team in a contract-to-hire capacity. In this role, you will contribute to software engineering initiatives of low to moderate complexity, with a focus on identifying process improvement opportunities and delivering high-quality solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply sound judgment, and grow your understanding of engineering best practices, policies, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to software engineering projects with low to moderate complexity.
- Analyze technical challenges and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing processes and systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Apply engineering principles to ensure compliance with internal standards and policies.
- Support the development and maintenance of cloud-native applications and microservices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship within a Scrum team environment.
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field, demonstrated through professional experience, education, military service, or training.
- 3+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- 3+ years of experience writing Java unit tests.
- 3+ years of experience developing applications using Spring Boot.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-native development on platforms such as Tanzu Application Service (TAS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), or AWS.
- 2+ years of experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and automated functional testing.
- Experience with Angular or similar front-end frameworks.
- Proficiency in Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with relational (Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
- Familiarity with Kafka or similar data streaming technologies.
- Experience designing and developing microservices using event-driven architecture.
- Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
- Knowledge of non-functional requirements including monitoring (APM tools), logging (e.g., Splunk), and distributed tracing.
- Experience in decomposing monolithic applications into microservices.
