Job Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Financial Controller

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, standard business hours.

Location: 2831 Research Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48309

This position is currently hybrid. Work is primarily remote but will be required to report to the office 1-2 days/week.

What does the Staff Accountant do at SolvIT?

The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role to our Financial Controller and within our accounting team. This role will be contributing to the management of financial transactions, preparing comprehensive reports, and ensuring strict adherence to accounting principles and company policies.

 Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare assigned components of internal financial reporting packages to analyze and understand performance drivers at all company levels
  • Utilize Excel and other appropriate tools and techniques to efficiently and effectively gather and analyze data
  • Assist with researching and implementing new and more efficient accounting systems and procedures
  • Maintain an orderly electronic filing system
  • Prepare financial activities including journal entries, inter-company entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting activities, as well as any ad hoc accounting reports as necessary
  • Review accounting books for efficiency and accuracy
  • Utilize strong time management and organizational skills to deliver high-quality work products while meeting established deadlines
  • Apply accounting and financial concepts and controls in the implementation or enhancement of financially relevant applications
  • Provide company financial information as appropriate or requested to Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Management Team
  • Provide backup coverage as needed for overall accounting tasks performed by current accounting specialists (s). This includes but is not limited to AP, AR, Sales, Payroll, etc. 
  • Perform other financial activities and ad hoc projects, as required

 

What makes you qualified:

  • Proven 3+ years of experience working in the accounting field
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft office, with advanced Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Evidence of a self-starter
  • Evidence of forward-thinking, problem-solving skills; anticipate cause-and-effect results
  • Demonstrated analytical and detail-oriented skills with good math skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong ability to analyze and summarize complex information
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of management and accounting department

 

What makes you an All-Star:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field of study
  • Utilization and working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop/Online

Can you meet these physical demands?

  • A set work schedule will be provided, but some flexibility is required as hours may vary due to need
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required
  • Physical demands: Non-strenuous with low risk; primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and carrying of light objects; Adequately lighted, ventilated and climate-controlled area where normal precautions must be observed
  • Work environment: Work is generally performed within a normal office environment using standard office equipment; Moderate noise typical of a business office; Travel for company business may be required to attend off-site meetings, etc; May require early morning, night and weekend work assignments; Interaction with contracted providers, staff and vendors by phone and face-to-face will be constant and may be disruptive: Work may be stressful at times.
