Description

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Portfolio Analyst to join our Life IT team in West Des Moines, Iowa OR Sioux Falls, SD. This long-term contract position involves supporting portfolio management tasks, including budget planning, financial tracking, work intake, governance processes, and reporting on portfolio health and metrics. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with portfolio leadership to analyze data, develop actionable insights, and ensure efficient prioritization and preparation of work for agile teams.

Responsibilities:

Track and manage portfolio budgets, including financial planning, reporting, and forecasting.

Oversee work intake processes, ensuring business cases are thoroughly developed and reviewed.

Collaborate with leadership to analyze portfolio data and provide actionable insights through reports and presentations.

Support governance activities, such as prioritizing tasks and preparing work for agile development teams.

Monitor and report on portfolio health by tracking key metrics, including Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and Excel to visualize portfolio performance.

Communicate trends, insights, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders through clear and concise presentations.

Foster strong collaboration across teams by facilitating discussions and ensuring alignment on priorities.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues independently, proposing practical solutions when challenges arise.

Utilize technical tools, such as Azure DevOps and portfolio management solutions, to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, or a related field.
Strong understanding of governance processes, including work intake, business case development, and task prioritization.
Demonstrated expertise in financial management, including budget planning, tracking, and reporting.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources and identify actionable insights.
Proficiency in tools such as Azure DevOps, Power BI, Excel (including advanced formulas), and portfolio management solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and resolve complex issues effectively.
