Title: Java Developer (Backend)
Location: Hybrid in Toronto/New York (Toronto preferred)
Client Industry: Financial Services - Banking
Compensation: $60 - $75/hr. (contract/contract-to-hire)
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Java Developer (Backend). In this role you will help drive the build-out of cloud-native, data-intensive treasury-analytics solutions by combining Spring Boot microservices, Spark Databricks pipelines, and RESTful APIs to deliver secure, scalable, high-performance applications that power market-risk insights for the bank's retail portfolios
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy cloud-based applications using Spring Boot
- Optimize data processing and storage within Data Lakehouse architectures
- Implement and manage Spark Databricks pipelines for large-scale data processing
- Automate system management through Linux or PowerShell scripting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate end-to-end cloud solutions
- Apply full SDLC best practices, ensuring code quality, security, and performance
Skills Required
- 5+ years of Java 8 & Spring Boot backend development experience
- Expertise in Spark Databricks for big-data processing
- Strong proficiency in Python scripting for data and automation tasks
- Advanced Linux or PowerShell scripting skills for deployment and ops automation
- Hands-on experience designing and consuming REST APIs within microservices architectures
- (Nice-to-have) Azure SQL/ASE, Event Hub, HashiCorp Vault, Azure Functions, Datadog, Autosys
Education & Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years' professional software engineering experience in cloud environments
- Post secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
