Summary

Are you seeking to push the limits of what's considered feasible? We are looking for a world class lens module engineer to join our engineering team and make a big difference in the future of Apple. By collaborating with broad engineering roster including optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists, you'll push the industry boundaries of what optics can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world. A successful candidate will not only focus on developing high precision manufacturing processes new to industry, but also educate a broad audience of people at Apple about their benefits and tradeoffs. In addition, this role involves ensuring the accuracy and reliability of metrology and tooling techniques used for optical components.

Key Qualifications

5+ years of industry experience and 2+ years of experience managing or leading or projects and peopleCapable of prototyping, conducting design of experiments, and analytical data processing

Description

- Use geometrical optics or wave-optics tools to architect new optical modules and to assess their expected performance and limitations- Translate optics requirement and features into detailed plans, develop schedules, deliver solutions in predictable, timely manner- Work with multi-functional teams to assess risks, understand coverage needs and priorities- Lead a talented team of manufacturing-focused engineers in a fast-paced environment- Work with optics manufacturing suppliers, and develop new techniques for optical components and modules- Identify novel characterization techniques to measure key performance metrics of complex and novel optical components. Perform statistical analysis of data to determine optical performance and quality- Regular visit suppliers to support engineering builds, and help with failure analysis activities - Generate and maintain documentation of specifications, manufacturing, test and FA processes

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
