Position: Site Reliability Engineer DBA Specialist

Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)

Hiring: W2 Contract / Fulltime

Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) DBA Specialist

Role Overview

As an SRE with a strong DBA focus, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical database systems. This includes Oracle and Exadata as primary technologies, with secondary expertise in other databases (preferably SQL Server). You will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, and operations to automate processes, monitor systems, and resolve production issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Administration (Primary: Oracle & Exadata)
    • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases and Exadata systems.
    • Perform backup, recovery, patching, and upgrades.
    • Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
    • Optimize performance through SQL tuning, indexing, and resource management.
  • Secondary Database Support
    • Provide support for other databases (preferably SQL Server).
    • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents across multiple platforms.
  • SRE Responsibilities
    • Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and automation for database systems.
    • Develop scripts and tools for operational efficiency (Shell, Python, Ansible).
    • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
    • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
    • Ensure security compliance and audit readiness for all database environments.
  • Performance & Reliability
    • Proactively identify and resolve reliability risks.
    • Implement capacity planning and performance benchmarking.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in Oracle DBA and Exadata administration.
  • Expertise in PL/SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server or other RDBMS as secondary skill.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (OEM, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, incident/change management.
  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI) and automation tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 5 8+ years of experience in DBA roles with Oracle and Exadata.
  • Certifications like Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or OCI DBA preferred.
