Drafter - Electrical Design



Attributes of typical projects:



  • Industries served include water/wastewater, chemical, life sciences, and manufacturing

  • Clients have mission critical facilities, processes, or plants where reliability is key

  • Medium to large size SCADA applications to control and monitor industrial equipment and processes, typical components include: 10-30 virtualized computers, 4+ layered networks, 1-50 field controllers, redundant data servers, data streams to business systems, 1-2 electrical panels

  • Project sizes from $50k to $3M, 1 month to 3 years in duration

  • Engineers typically have 1 to 4 projects active at a given time



Responsibilities and expectations



  • Meet or exceed annual billable target

  • Perform all work in accordance with company engineering practices and quality methodologies

  • Critical thinking, clearly articulating wider impacts of technical decisions

  • Maintain and develop tools for work efficiency and production improvements

  • Proactively, clearly, and routinely communicate with team members and managers

  • Disciplined using yielding industry leading quality and reliability

  • Execute projects that meet expectations in within project scope and budget

  • Provides technical mentorship, training, and support to other team members

  • Be proactive in recognizing project risk



Desired Skills & Experience



  • A Bachelor's degree is not required, but verifiable technical training is required. Preferably from vocational schools or programs rather than self-guided programs

  • Industry experience of 5+ years. Automation or Controls drafting, and design experience preferred

  • AutoCAD Electrical training, familiarity, and experience is a must. You will be expected from day 1 to be able to operate in this toolset to produce project deliverables for low voltage PLC control panels, under the direction of engineering guidance

  • Clear communication, both verbal and written is mandatory

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent planning and organization habits, consistent follow through

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Process control and/or automation experience is preferred
