Job Details

Title: QA Business Analyst
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid with some in-office meetings)
Type: Contract


This role blends business analysis and quality assurance to support the development and delivery of software solutions that align with business goals. You ll work cross-functionally to analyze requirements, guide development, and ensure systems meet expectations through structured testing and documentation.

For this position, you must hold a Bachelor's degree and bring hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. You must be well-versed in Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, and possess intermediate-level expertise in Visual Studio, TFS, and Azure DevOps (VSTS). We need an analyst whose technical background includes working with .NET applications and ETL processes, as well as solid experience with SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2016.


Your role:


  • Design test strategies and build test cases to ensure thorough coverage of business and technical requirements.
  • Guide developers on aligning solutions with documented specifications.
  • Conduct and document manual test execution, validate outcomes, and track defects or performance concerns.
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions with stakeholders to confirm solutions meet expectations.
  • Analyze current and future-state business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement.
  • Document functional requirements and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Draft use cases that outline normal, alternate, and error conditions for system behaviors.
  • Facilitate discussions across teams to clarify needs, manage conflicting perspectives, and maintain alignment on goals.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal standards for business analysis and testing practices.
  • Recommend test automation opportunities and build reusable test flows and datasets using approved tools.


What you ve got:


  • Experience working with Windows Server environments
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
  • Proficiency with Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server (TFS), and Azure DevOps (VSTS)
  • Understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) concepts
  • Experience testing .NET applications and data workflows (ETL)
  • Solid background in SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2016
  • Working knowledge of SSIS and SSRS for data integration and reporting
  • Ability to test backend systems, including database tables and views
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access


Preferred:


  • Familiarity with database triggers, stored procedures, indexes, and packages
  • Experience performing API testing
  • Exposure to automated testing tools and practices
