Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Medical Staff Quality Specialist for a Contract assignment with one of our premier Healthcare clients in Oakland, CA .

Responsibilities :
Reporting to the Director of Medical Staff Administration the Medical Staff Quality Specialist provides data and analytical support to Hospital and to the Organized Medical Staff for OPPE and peer review processes, including support of Peer Review and Professionalism investigations. Is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of reporting and databases, and for new and ongoing projects related to medical staff evaluation and credentialing.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Medical Staff Administration in analyzing individual and group OPPE and peer review data.
  • Completes assigned projects related to medical staff data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Writes reports from peer review database upon request and on a recurring basis.
  • Maintains the integrity of data ensuring timely, relevant, accurate and consistent information use.
  • Summarizes and reports OPPE and peer review data.
  • Assists in improving the quality of data and information as appropriate; including audit of data collection processes.
  • Participates in medical staff committees and teams to help track quality outcomes and measures.
  • Maintains knowledge of Joint Commission and regulatory standards related to medical staff credentialing, privileging, and ongoing evaluation, and professionalism.
  • Promotes and adheres to the customer service philosophy and standards by interacting and communicating with colleagues in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment. Displays courteous behavior to customers and coworkers. Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship with patients, staff and others.
  • Maintains and improves knowledge of Medical Staff regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in Institutional Quality Event Reviews
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3 years of relevant healthcare/clinical experience
  • Experience in managing FPPE, OPPE, and professionalism cases for medical staff offices
  • Ability to coordinate projects, develop planning documents, meet with project leaders, and develop reports.
  • Substantial experience with data and trend analysis, statistical reporting, application design and development.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex data sets.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to educate team members, staff from varying departments, physicians and nurses.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and aggressive project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with Medical Staff Leadership in management of complex peer review.
  • Maintains confidentiality of OPPE and peer review processes.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong technical skills in the areas of database management.
