Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for an Analytics Engineer for our premier global client! This is a full-time hire position open to candidates who reside near Boston MA, Washington DC, New York City, or Chicago IL metropolitan areas.
- The Analytics Engineer will be responsible to develop, administer, and enhance the firm's business intelligence platforms, with a primary focus on Power BI.
- You will lead the design and maintenance of intuitive dashboards, compelling visualizations, and actionable insights for business and legal stakeholders, while supporting the migration from Tableau and Alteryx to Power BI.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified candidates are experienced analytics professionals with strong SQL skills and proven expertise in leveraging, administering, and optimizing Power BI to deliver actionable insights.
- Experience in professional services industries, such as law firms or legal consultancies, compliance advisory, Big 4 consultancies, financial advisory, management consulting, or similar professional services organization is required.
- Proven record of long-term employment with previous companies is preferred.
What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data visualization roles.
- Well versed in Power BI and Tableau.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), Row-Level Security, and shared datasets.
- Strong data modeling, visualization, and performance optimization skills in large-scale environments.
- Experience with Tableau and Alteryx including development and migration strategies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), and integrations with Azure Synapse or SQL Server.
- Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases and data lakes.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and user access policies for BI tools.
- Understanding of user enablement and adoption strategies for self-service analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
- Lead the development and enhancement of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in Power BI to support enterprise-wide reporting.
- Administer the Power BI platform, including workspace configuration, access controls, usage monitoring, capacity planning, and governance.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, insightful BI solutions that inform decision-making.
- Support migration of existing Tableau dashboards and Alteryx workflows to Power BI, creating equivalent models and pipelines as needed.
- Maintain and optimize legacy Tableau and Alteryx solutions during the transition period, supporting sunset planning and change management.
- Champion data visualization best practices, including user-centered design, accessible layouts, performance tuning, and drill-through analysis.
- Provide training, documentation, and support for end users adopting Power BI for self-service reporting.
- Collaborate with data engineering and governance teams to ensure data quality, availability, and compliance with standards.
- Stay current with advancements in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and embedded analytics features, recommending improvements as appropriate.
Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $125,000- $146,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for a discretionary bonus plan and full comprehensive employee benefits. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
