IT Systems Specialist

Position: Senior IT Systems Consultant (Azure & Intune Implementation)
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid 2 days onsite)
Contract Duration: 3 Months (Potential for Extension)
Travel: Occasional travel to San Antonio (few times per month)

Overview:
A Houston-based company is seeking a highly capable and hands-on IT Systems Consultant for a short-term contract with strong potential for continuation. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure and Intune implementation, and a demonstrated track record delivering cloud and hybrid infrastructure projects in enterprise settings.

This hybrid role calls for a collaborative, solution-focused individual who thrives in dynamic environments, works well across technical and non-technical teams, and takes ownership from design through delivery. This is a client-facing role that blends systems engineering with strategic IT consulting.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead or support implementation and configuration of Microsoft Intune, M365, and Azure services.

• Design, deploy, and document infrastructure migrations, including Exchange Hybrid and tenant-to-tenant M365 transitions (e.g., post-M&A).

• Deliver hands-on engineering across cloud services: Azure AD, Azure Files, Backup & Site Recovery, and hybrid security configurations.

• Manage and support infrastructure components such as VMWare, Hyper-V, Pure Storage, and HPE storage systems.

• Contribute to IT strategy by collaborating with business and technical teams to assess requirements and present scalable solutions.

• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation (including Visio, Word, and other tools) throughout the lifecycle of each engagement.

• Assist in maintaining enterprise-grade systems, both cloud-hosted and on-prem, ensuring system reliability, performance, and security.

• Engage in continuous improvement and learning, pursuing certifications aligned with evolving IT standards.

Key Technologies:

• Core Must-Haves: Microsoft Intune deployment, Microsoft Azure (including AD, Storage, Cloud Services, Recovery, and Security)

• Cloud Platforms: Microsoft 365 (including M&A scenarios), AWS (desirable)

• Virtualization & Storage: VMWare, Hyper-V, Pure Storage, HPE Storage, Cisco UCS

• Enterprise Tools: SCCM, EMS, Cohesity, F5

• Documentation Tools: Microsoft Visio, Word, and others for detailed technical write-ups

Candidate Profile:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering

• Demonstrated success completing full-scope implementations in cloud/hybrid environments

• Effective communicator, both verbal and written, with ability to interact with end-users and executive stakeholders alike

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation

• Self-driven and capable of working both independently and as part of a team

• Based in the Houston area with ability to travel occasionally to San Antonio

Nice to Have:

• Recent certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, or other relevant cloud infrastructure disciplines

• Prior consulting experience or client-facing implementation work
