Grubhub is looking for a Director of Engineering - Data Platform to build and lead all our data & ml platform and event-driven data lake/mesh efforts. You will be heading multiple teams of passionate and skilled engineers responsible for building and owning data microservices, event-driven streaming, batch data pipelines that process tens of terabytes of data daily and support all of the warehousing, analytics, machine learning and data science needs across the organization.

New York Salary Range: $$241,500- $314,000
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.

The Impact You Will Make
- Develop the platform vision and roadmap strategy to provide proactive solutions and enable stakeholders to extract insights and value from data.
- Raise engineering bar. Build high-quality engineering teams and design the teams to scale.
- Work with strong engineering leaders across organizations and partner with them to create robust solutions to complex technical problems.
What You Bring to the Table
- 8+ years in a leadership/management capacity around engineering, building data pipelines and data products.
- Ability to dive deep into key business metrics and strategy and to help define our short- and long-term business objectives, matching them to technical goals
- Familiar with both modern data technologies and event-driven microservice architecture. Being a technologist and providing guidance to your teams and throughout the company.
- Excellent communication, adaptability and collaboration skills. Partner with cross-functional peers and other stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of any of the backend languages: Java and/or Scala, Python, etc.
- Experience with AWS, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Cassandra, DataDog, Splunk, etc. is a plus!
