Job Details

Tesla is seeking energetic and highly motivated Engineering Technicians to join our Cell Manufacturing Engineering Team. Battery cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product, requiring ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance and manufactured at unprecedented volumes. In this role, you will be at the forefront of bringing new designs and processes into production, running experiments for fundamental understanding, and tackling complex manufacturing challenges. You will collaborate with engineering groups across various disciplines, working alongside seasoned industry experts in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership and develop expertise of assigned station(s)
  • Support development trials and small production runs
  • Adhere to company policies on safety and conduct
  • Assist engineering activities including process, equipment, and design validation
  • Develop, execute, and track design of experiments (DOEs) including measurements, fabrication, and operating assembly equipment
  • Ensure process stability and quality of production output at assigned station
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of specifications and build tracking

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a pilot or production setting
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics as well as engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, Command of the English Language, both written and verbal
  • Mechanical fabrication skills, machine shop experience, and expertise with hand and power tools
  • Experience with metrology, data acquisition, and strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals that include high speed laser welding tools
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery cell, module, and pack design, basic knowledge of GD&T, and skills in SQL, Python, Jupyter Notebook, or 3D CAD modeling (CATIA V5/V6 experience is a plus)
Essential Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel for up to 12 hours a day
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
