About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Product Owner (DPO) with a strong blend of business acumen, product/data management expertise, and a passion for fan engagement, DTC, and the sports industry. As a DPO, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex analytics needs into actionable deliverables and driving the development of impactful data products.

This role requires a strategic thinker, a clear communicator, and someone who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional, and Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the Data Product Vision & Roadmap:
    Define and manage the data product strategy aligned with organizational goals. Create and maintain a clear roadmap that balances business value with technical feasibility.
  • Act as the Business-Data Liaison:
    Translate complex business requirements into clear data and analytics deliverables. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand needs and ensure alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with internal teams (engineering, analytics, marketing, etc.) and external stakeholders (clubs, partners) to ensure end-to-end delivery of data products.
  • Manage Product Lifecycle:
    Lead backlog refinement, prioritize features and user stories, and oversee execution from ideation through deployment and iteration.
  • Ensure Data Integrity & Governance:
    Champion best practices around data quality, governance, and compliance across the product development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate Agile Execution:
    Lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and continuously drive improvements in team processes and communication.
  • Prepare Executive Reporting:
    Create and deliver concise, impactful updates and documentation for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Promote Data Literacy & Evangelize Use:
    Act as a data product evangelist, supporting data-driven decision-making and improving stakeholder understanding of the value of data products.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or data product management roles.
    • Strong understanding of the sports, fan engagement, or DTC industries.
    • Demonstrated success managing the delivery of data platforms, ETL pipelines, dashboards, or similar analytics solutions.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Solid understanding of data engineering, analytics, and data architecture concepts.
    • Familiarity with SQL, ETL tools, and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) is a plus.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Methodologies & Soft Skills:
    • Strong Agile/Scrum experience.
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
    • Experience working closely with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers.
    • Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks is a plus.
