The Protected Communication Systems (PCS) team is hiring Senior Systems Engineers to support programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. PCS supports multiple Collins contracts and is seeking to fill roles across several open contracts - our goal is to align each new hire with a position that best suits their skills and allows for career growth. In this role, you will play a critical part in the design, development, and integration of products, from concept to production. You will collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers to ensure seamless system performance and deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
What You Will Do
Define system requirements and specifications for electronic products based on project goals and customer needs
Design and architect system-level solutions, integrating hardware, firmware, and software components
Collaborate with cross-functional team members (hardware and software engineers) to ensure system compatibility and performance
Conduct system-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and functionality
Support the transition of products from prototype to production, including design reviews and documentation
Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product performance and features
Maintain clear communication with team members and stakeholders to align on project milestones and deliverables
Qualifications You Must Have
Proven experience in electronic product development, preferably within multidisciplinary teams
Experience with testing and validation methodologies for electronic systems
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date
Qualifications We Prefer
Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART)
Experience with voice communication systems, including VoIP (Voice over IP) protocols like SIP, RTP and SRTP
Familiarity with multicast networking (e.g., IGMP, PIM) for efficient data transmission in communication systems
Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, UDP, and network troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark)
Basic understanding of firmware development (C/C++, Python)
Knowledge of military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461) for designing rugged and reliable systems
Proficiency in system design tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent)
A current active Top Secret Clearance

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
