Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer with hands-on implementation experience to design, build, and optimize the data infrastructure supporting a statewide initiative. The ideal candidate combines technical mastery with a collaborative mindset to ensure data accuracy, performance, and compliance across interconnected systems.
Duties:

Design and build scalable Snowflake data models, schemas, and pipelines to support the DEN architecture.

Develop data ingestion pipelines using OpenFlow, APIs, and connectors for external data sources (e.g., property management systems such as Yardi and RealPage).

Design transformation logic using dbt, Python, and SQL to ensure clean and standardized datasets.

Configure and maintain Snowflake security infrastructure, including virtual warehouses, RBAC roles, encryption, masking, access control policies, and data-sharing mechanisms with EOHLC and partner organizations.

Implement automation for data quality checks, lineage, and reconciliation while monitoring pipeline performance, Snowflake compute usage, and troubleshooting ingestion, transformation, and query performance issues.

Support data governance and compliance processes, including enforcing data-sharing agreements, metadata tagging, audit readiness, and state privacy and security standards.

Support platform maintenance, version upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and partner IT teams to align deliverables with project milestones.

Contribute documentation and knowledge-sharing materials for long-term sustainability.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and analysts.
Mandatory Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.

3+ years of direct Snowflake implementation experience.

SnowPro Core Certification (required).

Strong expertise in SQL, dbt, Python, and ETL/ELT orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Matillion, Fivetran).

Proven experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

Familiarity with data security, governance, and privacy frameworks, especially within public-sector or regulated environments.

Demonstrated ability to translate complex data flows into clear documentation and dashboards (e.g., using Tableau or Power BI).
Desirable Qualifications:

SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer or Architect certification (preferred).

AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty or Azure Data Engineer Associate (a plus).

Experience integrating housing, property management, or government data systems.

Familiarity with Snowflake data sharing, zero-copy cloning, and secure data exchange models.

Exposure to OutSystems, OpenFlow, or API-driven integration frameworks.

Strong understanding of data architecture patterns (data mesh, data lakehouse, or data fabric).

Excellent communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional, multi-agency environments.
