Job Description

You will be a Dry Etch Process Engineering Lead at Lockheed Martin's Santa Barbara Focalplane site in Goleta, CA. We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert to join our team and provide technical expertise and leadership in dry etch processes for semiconductor manufacturing.

What You Will Be Doing
As the SME for Dry Etch, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the development, implementation, and optimization of etch processes for semiconductor manufacturing. This will include expertise in areas such as:
Dry etch process development and optimization, including plasma-enhanced etch, reactive ion etch (RIE), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) etch
Etch process control and metrology, including etch rate, uniformity, and selectivity control
Advanced etch techniques, such as atomic layer etch (ALE) and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor etch (PECVE)
Etch-related defect reduction and yield enhancement

The successful candidate will have a strong background in semiconductor manufacturing, with a focus on etching processes, and will be able to apply their technical expertise to improve yield, throughput, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement new etch processes and techniques to improve yield, throughput, and quality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure seamless integration of etch processes into overall semiconductor manufacturing
Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to etch, including equipment, process, and material issues
Develop and maintain documentation, including process recipes, operating procedures, and technical reports
Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on etch processes and equipment
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in dry etch, and apply this knowledge to improve company processes and products

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, such as chemistry, materials science, or electrical engineering, etc.
Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, with a focus on dry etch processes
In-depth knowledge of dry etch principles, processes, and equipment, including etch tools, chemicals, and process control systems
Experience with process development, optimization, and troubleshooting, as well as equipment maintenance and repair
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians
This position is located at a facility that requires special access, therefore U.S. citizenship is required

Desired skills

Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field
Experience with advanced etch techniques, such as ALE and PECVE
Familiarity with semiconductor industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE) methodologies

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $134,000 - $236,325. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
