Position Overview
The Project Controls Analyst II will provide cost and schedule control support to the Electric Delivery Project Management team for large-scale utility projects.
This role requires expertise in cost forecasting, budget tracking, scheduling, and reporting, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.
The Analyst may focus exclusively on either cost control or schedule control, or a combination of both, depending on project requirements. This is an opportunity to work on critical projects that support mission to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Key Requirements:
- Develop, revise, and maintain project cost estimates and forecasts covering all project phases w/in utilities industry (engineering, procurement, construction, and plant startup).
- Track, analyze, and report on project costs, including budgets, commitments, accruals, actuals, and variances.
- Prepare detailed project budgets, cash flow projections, and monthly financial forecasts.
- Conduct variance and risk analyses; provide clear explanations and recommendations to project leadership.
- Review contractor and vendor estimates for accuracy and alignment with project scope.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, and Risk Management to ensure compliance with cost control and reporting standards.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and resource loading.
- Perform schedule risk analyses and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in bid reviews to ensure cost and schedule requirements are included in contracts and purchase orders.
- Support project-related public outreach, including occasional after-hours meetings.
- Mentor and assist junior analysts, sharing best practices in project controls.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
Additional Experience
- 3 years as a Project Controls Analyst I, or 10 years of progressive project controls or related work experience
- Minimum of 2 years in an engineering and construction project controls environment within utilities industry
- Utility or large-scale capital project experience preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of cost forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling practices
- Proficiency with scheduling and cost control software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation abilities to clearly explain technical details
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated teamwork, accountability, and commitment to safety
