Salary: $180K - $200K
Responsibilities:
- Architect, prototype, and deliver distributed, cloud-native applications (primarily on AWS).
- Lead small engineering teams (?5 developers) through the full software lifecycle: from requirements and design to deployment and support.
- Write, review, and guide high-quality code in Python (primary) and Java/.NET, plus front-end work in JS/TS/React.
- Define and evolve architectural patterns, coding standards, and documentation practices across teams.
- Evaluate tradeoffs between performance, scalability, cost, and delivery speed and make decisive technical calls.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code (AWS CDK is a hard requirement, CDKTF is a plus).
- Lead Software Architect 1 Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, quality, and speed (e.g., agentic CLI tools (we primarily use Claude Code and Q Developer), RAG systems, code copilots).
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate goals into clear technical designs and milestones.
- Evangelize modern development practices including trunk-based development, CI/CD automation, and context-appropriate Agile/Kanban workflows.
- Create and maintain documentation: architecture diagrams, requirements definitions, and implementation guides.
- Serve as a mentor and technical authority for engineers across the organization.
Experience Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend-focused engineer, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Deep fluency in Python, plus familiarity with Java or .NET.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud architecture, distributed systems, and microservice design.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, CloudFormation, and especially CDK-based frameworks.
- Working knowledge of front-end ecosystems (React, Next.js, or similar).
- Experience delivering end-to-end systems, from greenfield prototype to production deployment.
- Skill in documenting architectures and using collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira, Lucidchart, etc.).
- Exposure to AI-augmented development, LLMs, or RAG-based systems (or a strong desire to learn).
- Balanced understanding of multiple software methodologies - Agile, Kanban, Scrum, trunk-based vs. GitFlow - and when to apply each.
- Lead Software Architect 2 Excellent communication skills and a bias for action; able to simplify complexity and drive alignment quickly.
- Nice to Have Experience with event-driven systems, stream processing, or message queues (Kafka, Kinesis).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes). Familiarity with CI/CD automation pipelines and DevSecOps tooling.
- Background in scaling SaaS or multi-tenant architectures. Prior experience mentoring or leading small, high-velocity teams.
