GDIT is seeking a highly skilled and mission-oriented Systems Engineer to support the sustainment, operation, and enhancement of Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS) for a critical government program. This role is pivotal in maintaining secure and reliable data transfer between networks of differing classification levels in accordance with DOD policies and risk management frameworks.

The likely salary range for this position is $90,100 - $121,900. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT is seeking a highly skilled and mission-oriented Systems Engineer to support the sustainment, operation, and enhancement of Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS) for a critical government program. This role is pivotal in maintaining secure and reliable data transfer between networks of differing classification levels in accordance with DOD policies and risk management frameworks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day operational support for deployed Cross-Domain Solutions across multiple domains and environments.
- Monitor CDS system health, performance, and logs, and respond to system alerts, service requests, and incident tickets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues involving operating systems, applications, hardware, and secure network interfaces.
- Apply system patches, security updates, and configuration changes in accordance with change control and security policy.
- Maintain and update system documentation, including procedures, configurations, diagrams, and security-related documentation (e.g., CONOPS, SSP, ICDs).
- Support security assessments and audits by providing evidence of compliance and assisting with ATO maintenance under ICD 503 and NIST 800-53.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, ISSOs, and mission stakeholders.
- Interface with CDS vendors and integrators to assist in issue resolution, product upgrades, and capability enhancements.
- Participate in system testing, validation, and integration activities to ensure CDS performance aligns with operational and policy requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with CI Poly (must be adjudicated and in scope).
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or IT operations supporting secure environments within the IC or DoD.
- Experience working with or supporting Cross-Domain Solutions
- Strong understanding of Linux and/or Windows server environments, including system hardening and scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with RMF/ATO processes, including ICD 503, CNSSI 1253, and NIST SP 800-53.
- Proficient in system monitoring, backup/recovery, configuration management, and secure system maintenance.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced mission environment and support on-call rotation or after-hours maintenance windows when needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CDS integration or sustainment in an operational IC or DoD setting.
- Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware, KVM), containerization (Docker), or IC cloud environments (C2S, SC2S).
- Familiarity with network security principles, segmentation, and secure data flow configurations.
- Experience developing or maintaining scripts/tools for system automation.
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, Linux+, or relevant platform/vendor certifications (e.g., Red Hat, Microsoft, VMware).
