Detailed Job Description for Oracle Database Administrator at New Castle, DE & Irving, TX:

  • The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for assisting with Database administration activities, including Service management, technical guidance, and support coordination with the Technology Infrastructure team. This role requires expertise and experience in High Availability (RAC), Partitioning, Replication technologies, VLDB, Ansible, PERL and Python. The overall objective is to use infrastructure technology knowledge and identified policies to process data, resolve issues and execute administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and Oversee Critical Changes in Production DB environment.
  • Ensure DB standards and tools are implemented as per global standards.
  • Build strong clients relationships with Application Managers and Production support.
  • Performance and capacity review of Production DB environments
  • Analytical & Problem solving skills.
  • Database automation & Service Improvement
  • Project / Program management and implementation experience
  • Create complex project plans, perform impact analyses, solve/work high impact problems/projects, and provide resolution to restore services.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post restoration of service.
  • Design testing approaches, complex processes, reporting streams, and assist with the automation of repetitive tasks.
  • Provide technical/strategic direction to application teams.
  • Review requirement documents, define hardware requirements and update processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for applications dealing with the overall operating system.
  • Conduct project related research
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Client, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in Oracle Database Management
  • Experience with Oracle 12c or 19c.
  • RAC and high availability
  • Advanced backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
  • Experience in upgrading, patching and migrating databases.
  • Database performance and tuning experience
  • Experience in database contingency planning, configurations and support
  • Experience running SQLT Explain plans and other Advisors.
  • Application SQL tuning experience is a plus.
  • Experience in and Golden Gate replication.
  • Experience in KSH shell scripting.
  • Strong development & scripting background (Python, Perl a must; Power shell & Java script a plus)
  • Experience with Ansible and Ansible playbook development is a plus.
  • Experience in automation/integration tools like Jenkins.
  • Good understanding of Infrastructure as a code as well as provide solutions using tools like Chef, Puppet etc.
  • Required to provide off-hours support as and when needed.
  • General IT Audit experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience.
  • Ability to work with virtual and in-person teams, and work under pressure or to a deadline.
  • Experience in a Financial Services or large complex and/or global environment preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective analytic/diagnostic skills

  • Bachelor s/University degree or equivalent work experience
