Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement/Manage Akamai CDN Configurations for high-traffic customer-facing websites. Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to design, author, implement, and test Akamai configuration changes in the preproduction environment. Ensure smooth propagation of changes to production once validated.
- Technical Design Recommendations: Provide technical design recommendations and collaborate with Akamai professional services to assess the impact of changes.
- Maintenance Activities: Perform regular maintenance activities related to Akamai..
- Performance and Web Acceleration: Apply advanced performance and web acceleration techniques to enhance the efficiency and speed of web services.
- Tool Development and Maintenance: Create and maintain tools that interface with various Akamai features, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
- Support and Troubleshooting: Be available to support Akamai-related events that may occur during off hours. Assist in troubleshooting customer or release-impacting incidents promptly.
- Rationalization Opportunities: Analyze current technologies and processes to identify rationalization opportunities. Focus on improving efficiency and cost savings.
- Standard Process Development: Develop standardized processes for managing and deploying edge solutions. Ensure these processes are scalable and adaptable to diverse use cases and environments.
- Evaluate Tools and Techniques: Investigate and recommend advanced tools and techniques for the deployment, management, and monitoring of edge products.
- Must have 3+ years of level of real world Akamai configuration experience managing various Akamai features across multiple domains. Experience with large Akamai security feature implementations
- 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, site reliability, devops, system infrastructure, or a related technical role
- 5+ years of experience building and/or supporting web applications
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, PrometheGrafana, ELK stack, ability to understand metrics and impact to system performance.
- Strong scripting and coding ability across multiple languages and technologies
- Proven experience optimizing reliability and performance for large scale web hosting environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, oncall as needed.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to provide data driven recommendations for critical decision making mainly around edge configuration and improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and leadership
- Experience with other CDNs. Ex. Fastly, CloudFlare, Imperva, Cloudfront, etc.
- Web based architecture/design and development experience
- Familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3
- Linux Operating Systems experience
