Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: NC Raleigh (Onsite)
Contract: 6+ months
Job Summary
Client is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator with over 8+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server database administration and hands-on experience working with Linux systems. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage high-availability environments, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances in production, staging, and development environments
  • Perform database tuning, query optimization, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal operation
  • Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Monitor database security, implement user permissions, and ensure compliance with company policies
  • Automate routine tasks and database maintenance jobs using scripting and scheduling tools
  • Collaborate with developers, network engineers, and system administrators to resolve database-related issues
  • Work with Linux-based servers and perform integration of SQL Server with Linux systems where applicable
  • Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime
  • Implement and maintain high-availability solutions such as clustering, Always On Availability Groups, or replication
  • Maintain documentation related to database architecture, configurations, and processes
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator in complex, enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server versions (2012, 2016, 2019, or later)
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and command-line administration
  • Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting SQL Server issues
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash scripting, or similar
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and user management
  • Experience working in an onsite role with clients and cross-functional teams
