Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nuclear Core Design Engineer to join our team on a remote, contract basis. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in nuclear reactor core design and simulation, particularly with Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs), and possess recent, hands-on experience with CASMO/SIMULATE (CMS5 Suite) tools.
This role involves conducting core design and analysis activities for early-stage reactor development, providing technical solutions, and ensuring high performance and safety standards in reactor core configurations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, modeling, and analysis of nuclear reactor cores, with a focus on PWR systems.
- Utilize CASMO/SIMULATE (CMS5 Suite) tools for accurate core simulations and reactivity assessments.
- Develop and evaluate fuel cycle strategies, reload core designs, and power distributions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system-level design and reactor development.
- Apply engineering judgment to optimize core design parameters to meet operational, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Perform sensitivity studies, safety margin assessments, and transient analyses.
- Document technical findings and provide clear, concise reporting for design reviews and regulatory submissions.
- Contribute to problem-solving in early-stage core and plant design with a focus on innovation and reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7 10+ years of relevant industry experience in nuclear core design and analysis.
- Proficiency in CASMO/SIMULATE (CMS5 Suite) is mandatory must have recent, hands-on experience.
- Strong background in Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) technologies.
- Proven experience with nuclear fuel management, neutronics, and thermal-hydraulic analysis.
- Ability to operate independently in a remote work environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with early-stage or advanced reactor concepts is a plus.
