Job Title: Static Equipment Engineer
Location: Remote, Canada
Position Overview:
Client is looking to hire a highly competent and experienced Static Equipment Engineer with a valid P.Eng (Professional Engineer) license in Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design, specification, and review of static equipment for major FEED and EPC projects across energy and process industries.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, air coolers, and filters.
  • Develop mechanical datasheets, equipment specifications, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor documents and ensure compliance with codes such as ASME Section VIII, TEMA, API 650/620, and CSA standards.
  • Conduct design calculations for wall thickness, nozzles, flanges, and supports using tools like PV Elite, Compress, or equivalent.
  • Interface with piping, civil, process, and procurement teams for equipment integration.
  • Participate in technical clarification meetings with vendors and clients.
  • Review fabrication drawings and participate in inspections and FATs as required.
  • Provide mechanical support during equipment installation and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a recognized Canadian provincial association (PEO, APEGA, EGBC, etc.).
  • 8 15 years of experience in mechanical/static equipment engineering in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME, API, TEMA, CSA, and other international codes/standards.
  • Experience in using mechanical design software (PV Elite, Compress, CodeCalc).
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Canadian fabrication practices and local code requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with international EPC/EPCM contractors.
  • Exposure to modularization, skid-based equipment, or prefabricated units.
  • Knowledge of sustainability-driven equipment design (e.g., for hydrogen or carbon capture plants).
  • Ability to lead packages and mentor junior mechanical engineers.
