Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) specialist to serve as a strategic consultant as our organization navigates policy, funding, and operational aspects of the SNAP ecosystem. This role is designed for a senior-level professional with deep expertise in SNAP funding structures, decision-making processes, and policy development. The consultant will provide guidance on an as-needed basis, contributing expert insights that support effective planning and execution.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level advice on SNAP funding mechanisms, compliance standards, and policy requirements.
- Guide leadership on best practices, risks, and opportunities associated with SNAP programs.
- Interpret policy changes, regulatory updates, and funding developments to support strategic decision-making.
- Offer data-driven recommendations to enhance program alignment, operational efficiency, and overall outcomes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, with flexible involvement ranging up to 10 hours per week based on evolving needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support ongoing initiatives requiring SNAP expertise.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience working directly with SNAP programs, including funding, operations, or policy.
- Background as a policymaker, senior-level leader, program administrator, or decision-maker within SNAP or a related public sector program.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state-level SNAP regulations, funding structures, and administrative processes.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, actionable recommendations in a consulting environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, flexible capacity.
