Job Title: Data Engineer/Production Support (Google Cloud Platform, Python, SQL)

Location: Remote

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled 8-10 years of Senior L2/L3 Support Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and Python scripting to provide production support for critical data pipelines, ETL processes, and cloud-based applications in the healthcare domain. This role demands deep problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to incident management, and the ability to ensure high system reliability and SLA compliance.

 

Must-Have Skills:

Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform): BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, GCS, Pub/Sub

Python: Advanced scripting and automation for monitoring, ETL, and error handling

SQL: Strong query writing, debugging, and performance optimization

Unix/Shell scripting: Support, automation, and job orchestration

ETL/Data Pipelines: Cloud-native support and troubleshooting

L2/L3 Production Support: Incident triage, RCA, problem management, SLA-driven resolution

Migration Support: On-prem to Google Cloud Platform migrations

 

Responsibilities:

Provide L2/L3 production support for Google Cloud Platform-hosted data pipelines and applications.

Monitor, analyze, and resolve production incidents and service requests within SLA timelines.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes/preventive measures.

Develop and maintain Python automation scripts for proactive monitoring, issue detection, and recovery.

Support Google Cloud Platform ETL pipelines (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, Pub/Sub) ensuring reliability and scalability.

Participate in release deployments, validations, and environment checks.

Collaborate with development and DevOps teams during transition and knowledge transfer (KT) sessions.

Maintain detailed documentation of incident handling, fixes, and standard operating procedures.

Be available for after-hours and weekend support as required for deployments and critical issues.

 

Required Qualifications:

Proven expertise in Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, GCS, Pub/Sub).

Strong Python scripting for automation, monitoring, and data processing.

Proficiency in SQL for troubleshooting and performance tuning.

Solid experience with incident management, SLA adherence, and RCA processes.

Hands-on knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Airflow).

Experience supporting cloud migrations and data integration projects.

Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.

 

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana)
