Role: IT QA Lead (SME) Location: Santa Clara, CA (Hybrid: 3 4 days onsite per week) Duration: 6+ Months
Overview: The Client is seeking a seasoned IT QA Lead to serve as the primary onsite Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a high-priority client engagement. Unlike a traditional staff augmentation role, this is a strategic delivery position. You will be responsible for the end-to-end quality of the project, owning the strategy, execution, and final sign-off. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between our South Bay client and our offshore delivery center in India. You must be comfortable working "hands-on " while simultaneously managing the workflow, productivity, and quality of a remote team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Own the end-to-end QA lifecycle. This includes creating Test Strategies, Test Plans, and defining "Definition of Done " for complex projects.
- Offshore Orchestration: Act as the primary point of contact for the India-based QA team. You will assign daily tasks, conduct handovers, review their output, and ensure they meet Triune's high standards for quality.
- Onsite Client Management: Work closely with client stakeholders (Product Managers, Dev Leads) in South Bay to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide real-time status updates.
- Hybrid Execution: Balance manual testing expertise (for complex, exploratory scenarios) with automation oversight. You will ensure the automation framework is scalable and that the offshore team is contributing meaningful scripts.
- Delivery Accountability: Ensure the engagement is delivered as a cohesive managed service. You are responsible for identifying risks, bottlenecks, and process improvements.
Required Experience & Skills:
- QA Expertise: 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with at least 3 years in a Lead or SME capacity.
- Offshore Management: Proven track record of managing QA teams in India, including handling the "time-zone dance " and ensuring clear communication of requirements.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong experience with Manual Testing (Functional, Integration, Regression).
- Hands-on experience with Automation Frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium).
- Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Managed Services Mindset: Understanding of "End-to-End " delivery models vs. simple staff augmentation. You know how to take ownership of an outcome rather than just filling a seat.
