Novacoast Staffing is currently assisting a financial government institution in its search for an experienced Senior Network Engineer that is experienced in Cisco products for a contract role that is expected to go a minimum of 2 years with the option to extend.  This is a hybrid role with a few days onsite in Alexandria VA and a pay range of 60-68/ hour.  To qualify for this role, you must be able to pass an extensive federal background check. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our client’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Cisco technologies, particularly Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless Controllers and APs, and Cisco's line of Routers and Switches, including Catalyst 9300, 9500, and 9600 Stacking switches. Experience with Cisco ACI data center switching is highly desirable, along with a working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls. Candidate should have Cisco CCNP level certification or equivalent experience.  Responsibilities –

  • Design, configure, and implement network solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices. 

  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless Controllers and APs and Cisco's line of Routers (ASR1k, ISR4K, 8K) and Switches (Catalyst 9300, 9500, and 9600). 

  • Ensure network availability, reliability, performance, and security. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues in a timely manner. 

  • Conduct daily network monitoring, analysis, and reporting to identify and address potential bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, or performance concerns. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network upgrades, expansions, and improvements. 

  • Coordinate and execute hardware deployment and configuration activities. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and processes. 

  • Assist with end-user support and interact with stakeholders to understand their network needs and provide appropriate solutions. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • Cisco CCNP level certification or above is preferred.  

  • Strong experience with Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless Controllers and APs, and Cisco's line of XE Routers and Switches. 

  • Familiarity with Cisco ACI data center switching is preferred. 

  • Working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls is desirable. 

  • Proven experience in network engineering, design, and implementation. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and provide effective solutions. 

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), VLANs, VPNs, and network security principles. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings.
