Job Details

The Senior Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership and systems engineering expertise. This role is responsible for system administration team leadership and the full lifecycle of systems engineering activities, ensuring robust, secure, and compliant solutions that meet mission-critical requirements.

The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible to lead all technical execution, including ensuring effective operations, modernizing IT infrastructure and services, and improving customer support/end user experience. Specific technical domains include technical support (Tier 3 and 4), on-premises infrastructure O&M, enterprise business and mission application support, and telephony support.

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for driving technical execution on the program. The individual selected for this position should have a broad technical background and exposure spanning many of the technical areas supported by the program. The candidate should have the ability to multitask and juggle numerous priorities and customers. The ability to clearly articulate technical messages for a variety of audiences including CIOs, CTOs, both through written and verbal means, will be a critical skill necessary for success in this position. The individual selected for this position will be able to operate independently. Being able to take the initiative in driving technical execution and is critical.

Location: This position is required to be onsite on a hybrid schedule, the work schedule is typically 4x10. You will be required to be onsite 75% of the time.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Responsible for the technical direction of the program. This includes on-going operations and maintenance, system updates and modernization, and continuous assessment of risks and opportunities for modernization
  • Evaluating technologies, creating a strategy for modernization, developing roadmaps to establish the vision for the organization
  • Execute IT projects in accordance with the roadmap and convey the impact of technologies, tools, and processes with stakeholders
  • Work the key customer contacts to help drive technology introduction and advise them on technical directions, communicate risk with associated decisions
  • Develop/review technical deliverables including status reports, collect operational metrics to meet the required service levels
  • Chair the program's Change Control Board / Engineering Review Board
  • Ensure the system meets all required security requirements
  • Support proposals and other new business activities, and other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited college or university and ten years' experience or fourteen years' experience in systems engineering
  • Have in-depth technical experience in infrastructure architecture
  • Experience in leading IT teams or programs in a 24x7 operational environment
  • Experience in modernizing IT systems technologies and processes
  • Experience in delivering and operating secure IT solutions in a large enterprise
  • Experience in project management with a strong ability to execute

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in leading teams delivering:
  • Architecture and design of various solutions (e.g., networking, SAN, backup, virtual machines, VDI)
  • Data Center management (e.g.. network devices, server, storage support)
  • IT infrastructure components (e.g., Active Directory, DNS)
  • Windows operating system (e.g.. Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019)
  • ITSM systems (such as SolarWinds, ServiceNow, Remedy, or other ITSM) and integrations with key infrastructure components
  • Database Knowledge/Experience (e.g., Microsoft SQL)
