Job Summary
Responsible for end-to-end ownership of projects across the entire stack. Build products with web frameworks, application programming interfaces, databases, and multiple Backend languages. Solve challenges that impact both the front-end and backend architecture, while delivering global customer experiences. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

The Technology & Product organization works at the intersection of media and technology and our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products and next-generation technologies that transform the customer experience. The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity (CONNECT) organization is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer (Engineer 4) who excels in managing complex infrastructure and distributed systems. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of Kubernetes, Linux internals, operating systems, and networking fundamentals. This role will be central to the design, development, deployment, and operation of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure for our on-premises platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing well-tested, ready-for-production code.
  • Contributing to design and architecture discussions.
  • Creating robust deployment and monitoring systems.
  • Providing support for production environments.
  • Conducting code reviews and engaging in agile software development activities.
  • Collaborating positively with team members.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
  • Keen attention to detail and high level of commitment.
  • An ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced agile setting.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment. Requirements change quickly and our team needs to constantly adapt to moving targets.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience

Expert-level proficiency in Kubernetes:
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes internals (schedulers, controllers, API server, flannel).
  • Experience with CRDs, Operators, Helm, and controller-runtime.
  • Ability to debug and optimize workloads and cluster performance.

Strong Linux and OS-level understanding:
  • Deep knowledge of Linux kernel concepts (cgroups, namespaces, process/thread scheduling).
  • Process scheduling, thread management, signal handling, virtual memory management.
  • Familiar with system calls, memory management, and In-depth filesystem behavior (ext4, XFS, overlayfs, etc.).
  • Comfortable with system tuning and kernel parameter optimization.
  • Hands-on with system boot process.
  • Experience debugging low-level system issues using tools (strace, perf, ftrace, vmstat, iotop, dmesg, sysctl)

Advanced Networking Knowledge:
  • Deep expertise in network architecture and protocols
  • Practical knowledge of networking tools and diagnostics:
  • Proficiency in network namespaces, IP tables, routing, and DNS.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking

Programming & Scripting:
  • Golang, Python, C++, Bash, Rust

Additionally, experience in core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM), infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and RDS databases like Postgres and SurrealDB is a plus.
