Position: Senior IT Big Data Developer
Location: Washington, DC
Duration: 6 Months+
THIS IS A ONSITE ROLE WASHINGTON, DC
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop high-performance big data applications using cloud-native and hybrid architectures.
Build and optimize automated ETL/ELT pipelines that handle large volumes of structured and unstructured data (terabyte-scale), ensuring performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Work with both cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake, Aurora) and on-premises environments (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
Apply DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles to provision and configure data systems using tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Implement big data solutions using technologies like Apache Spark, NiFi, Informatica, SSIS, and Hadoop-based repositories.
Develop APIs and services in object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Scala) and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Node.js, Bash).
Work across NoSQL and relational database platforms, including MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB, Cosmos DB, Oracle NoSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Follow secure software development practices and contribute to Agile/Scrum team environments.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in software development using SDLC methodologies (Agile, DevOps, Iterative, Waterfall).
10+ years of hands-on development experience with:
Object-oriented programming (Java, C#, Python, Scala, .NET, Spark)
Scripting (JavaScript, Node.js, Shell scripting)
ETL/ELT tools: Apache NiFi, Informatica, SSIS, IBM Infosphere, SAP BusinessObjects
Advanced expertise in big data design patterns, data lake/warehouse architectures, and data movement strategies.
Deep knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data platforms, both cloud-native and on-prem.
Strong understanding of hybrid cloud data engineering, including secure integrations between AWS services and enterprise databases.
Experience building data infrastructure using IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, and secure cloud deployment standards.
Required Certifications (at least one):
AWS Developer Associate
AWS Data Engineer Associate
Equivalent cloud or big data certifications are a plus
