Work location: San Diego, CA - onsite.
Duration : 12+ Months
Job Description:
Job Summary
The Hardware Reliability Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated individual to
join our efforts in ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of new products.
As part of a diverse team, you will collaborate with hardware engineering groups
throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to field returns, helping to understand
customer usage, identify high-risk failure modes, and determine the best mitigation
strategies using advanced engineering knowledge. This role involves driving failure
modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to ensure robust design, developing and
implementing innovative reliability tests for new hardware programs, quantifying
reliability risks, and leading failure analysis to establish root causes and corrective
actions.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing concise and detailed reliability test plans and reports with an emphasis on
prioritizing tasks to meet challenging deadlines. - Developing new reliability tests, procedures, and specifications.
- Analyzing experimental data to provide in-depth understanding of design
- Researching state-of-the-art technology to understand root causes of test failures.
- Providing design direction to multi-functional teams to improve product reliability.
Key Qualifications
- Deep understanding of mechanical assemblies and industry test standards (JEDEC,
ASTM, IEEE). - Experience in reliability testing, including mechanical stress tests (shock, drop,
vibration), environmental, and fatigue testing. - Proficient in failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, x-ray/CT scans,
scanning electron microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and energy
dispersive spectroscopy. - Proficiency with statistical tools and models, such as Weibull++, JMP, and accelerated
test models. - Expertise in applying Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of
Experiments (DOE). - Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Digital Image Correlation
(DIC). - Extraordinary problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail and the ability to
manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Confidence in navigating ambiguity and developing innovative approaches to
- Dynamic, can-do attitude with a passion for delivering groundbreaking technologies
and an eagerness to explore uncharted territory.
Education and Experience
- S. or M.S Engineering degree
