Knoxville, TN | Sr. Project Manager | Full-time

We are actively recruiting a Sr. Project Manager for our client in Knoxville, TN. This is a contract opportunity that will require working onsite in Knoxville. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven self-starter who thrives in a fast paced, rapid execution environment. Must have strong skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, influencing, facilitation, and communication, as well as the ability to run projects that involve a significant number of stakeholder groups, a variety of business and technology processes, and complex business and technology efforts.

Due to client request, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate project chartering, drive alignment, and manage expectations
  • Define, baseline, maintain, and communicate a project schedule
  • Create and manage holistic cost estimates and budgets, and track and report on actuals on a defined cadence
  • Proactively drive the identification and assessment of risks.
  • Drive responses to risks and ensure risk mitigation and closure.
  • Support teams to resolve issues with urgency and quality
  • Develop and execute an effective change control process
  • Establish a project governance structure appropriate for project size
  • Teach, advocate, and coach others on the use and benefit of project management competencies and skillsets
  • Optimize the project framework and tools by providing continuous improvement
  • Ensure readiness, sustainability, and business realization metrics are in place
  • Have a defined resource plan and make certain that roles and responsibilities are clear and understood
  • Manage vendor and third party partners
  • Ensure project status updates are clear, concise, timely, and accurate
  • Facilitate and lead effective meetings; create and deliver presentations for project teams, stakeholders, and executives
  • Perform conflict resolution and negotiation in a professional manner

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in business management, business administration, project management, or related field
  • 5-10 years of progressive project management experience in large, more complex initiatives in large, highly-matrixed organization, or through project management consulting practices
  • Sound experience in delivery of people, process, and/or tool initiatives leveraging multiple delivery practices and tools
  • PMP and Agile certifications highly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Visio, Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) management
  • Strong understanding and experience with multiple project and software delivery frameworks and methodologies, including but not limited to waterfall, scrum, and kanban
  • Experience with portfolio and project management tools such as Jira and Smartsheet
