Location: Irving, TX- Hybrid- 3 days- locals only
Need to go in person for the final round interview.
Summary:
In this role, you will be a key contributor to Vizient s enterprise analytics modernization initiative. You will help design, develop, and optimize scalable BI solutions using Power BI, with a strong focus on modernizing legacy reporting by transitioning MicroStrategy (MSTR) reports into Power BI. As part of our iFS data transformation strategy, you will work with large, complex datasets, deliver robust export and PDF solutions, and improve visualization capabilities to better serve business users.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and migrate legacy MSTR reports to Power BI, including the design and implementation of interactive dashboards, tabular reports, and paginated (PDF-ready) outputs, leveraging strong hands-on development expertise.
- Analyze existing MSTR logic, metrics, and data flows to deliver functionally equivalent and enhanced Power BI solutions.
- Build enterprise-grade semantic models following sound data modeling practices (Star/Snowflake schema).
- Optimize Power BI reports for high performance and usability when working with large-scale data environments (millions of rows).
- Develop and implement custom export strategies to overcome native tool limitations (e.g., exporting beyond row/size thresholds).
- Collaborate with developers to build innovative, custom BI solutions, often requiring integration of Power BI with Power Automate or other Microsoft 365 tools.
- Drive data integration using Microsoft Fabric tools such as Data Factory, Pipelines, and Lakehouses; ensure alignment with Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure SQL platforms.
- Partner with business analysts and stakeholders for iterative feedback, validation, and adoption of newly developed reports.
- Document technical specifications, transformation logic, and report usage best practices.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives ensuring continuous improvement and cross-team alignment.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in Power BI development, including advanced DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Strong expertise in migrating enterprise reports from MicroStrategy to Power BI.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets, including strategies for report optimization and overcoming Power BI export limitations.
- Experience building workflows and automation solutions using Power Automate.
- Strong familiarity with MicroStrategy metadata structure (attributes, metrics, schema objects) is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Fabric components (Data Factory, Pipelines, Lakehouses), Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Databricks.
- Skilled in SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python for data transformation.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on solution design with other developers, encouraging innovation and shared development standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field preferred.
