Job Details

Job Summary
The Windows Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation,
configuration, operation, and maintenance of Windows-based servers, desktops, laptops,
systems, and related infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient
operation of in-house computer systems, cloud services, and end-user environments that
support core organizational functions. The Windows Administrator will play a key role in
ensuring system performance, security, and availability, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365
services, endpoint management, and virtual desktop solutions.

Key Responsibilities
System Administration:
o Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (e.g.,Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022) and related applications/services.
o Manage and administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows services.
o Perform routine system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
o Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
o Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Management:
o Administer and support Microsoft 365 (M365) services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams.
o Manage and deploy devices using Microsoft Intune for mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM).
o Implement and maintain endpoint security policies and compliance through Intune.
o Troubleshoot and resolve M365 and endpoint-related issues.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI):
o Design, deploy, and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop).
o Optimize VDI performance, user experience, and resource utilization.
o Troubleshoot VDI-related issues, including client connectivity, application delivery, and profile management.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
o Troubleshoot and resolve server, system, network, and VDI issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.
o Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
o Conduct routine system audits and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.
o Perform diagnostics and performance tuning to optimize system functionality.
o Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.

Security & Compliance:
Implement and enforce security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and data encryption, to safeguard data and prevent unauthorized access across on-premises and cloud environments.
o Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
o Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

End-User Support & Collaboration:
o Provide tier 2 and 3 technical support to end-users for a wide range of IT issues, including desktop, laptop, software, M365 applications, and VDI access.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize IT solutions that meet business needs.
o Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 support as needed.

Automation & Documentation:
o Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency across Windows servers, M365, and VDI.
o Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configuration guides, procedural manuals, and incident reports.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of proven experience as a Windows Administrator or in a similar role.
Strong proficiency in Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive).
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management and security.
Solid experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix, or Azure Virtual Desktop/Windows 365).
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
Strong experience providing technical end-user support for a diverse user base.
Familiarity with network protocols and services (TCP/IP, VPN, etc.).
Solid understanding of IT security best practices.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or equivalent certifications.
Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and hybrid cloud environments.
Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SCOM, SolarWinds, Nagios).
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Windows Server Backup).
Knowledge of other operating systems (e.g., Linux) is a plus.
